camping in the badlands (night 2)
OOOHHH—we have finally arrived in vancouver after 4 long-ass days in the car and on the ground! we started our trip in nashville, where i picked up HK after having a fab reunion w/ an old friend and his wife-a new friend!
old(!) friends
We had planned to camp the whole way, but as we made it to Kansas City the 1st night, it was still 87 degrees at 10 pm , so we opted for a no-tell-mo-tell. it sucked, but what the hell, it had a/c.
next day we hauled-it big time, BUT took a 20 minute time-out for (more…)

And we’re off! The car is packed and the pups are ready for their first international trip. They’ll have to be patient, tho, because we won’t cross the border for 4 days!
This past week, Kismet and Roxy have been (more…)

Great Blue Heron
For the last several months, HK and I have been visiting our friends, the great blue herons, almost every weekend. Each year, beginning in March or April, dozens of the beautiful birds come to an island on the Lake Lanier near our house. The males show up first and choose what they hope will be considered prime real estate by the soon-to-arrive females. Once the lady birds have decided on a mate, she begins decorating the tree-top nest. Soon, they’re expecting, and within a month or so babies arrive.
Our routine is to visit the island that they inhabit around dusk, when they’re most active in their nests. “Klack Klack Klack…” they are so chatty. We love watching (more…)

I’ve added a video that I put together from our trip to Bhutan. Most of it was filmed on my birthday. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Oooohhh!! I’m soooooooo excited! 2 weeks from today, HK, and I are leaving for a summer getaway in Vancouver, BC! Yep, we’re packin’ up the car and hittin’ the road. And guess what???? Kismet and Roxie (click for a pic) are coming with us. It’s a Family Road Trip!!
The pups are very excited, as they’ve never been out of the country before. They were not, however, too thrilled (more…)

Happy Birthday, HK!
Today is HK’s birthday!! To celebrate, we went down to the beach in Alabama–the REAL Redneck Riviera! He forgot his cut-offs, so we had to duck into a little surf-shop to get him a swimsuit. He was real excited to find this one (more…)

Well, I’m back from my trip to Tennessee to visit my old classmate–I’ll call her “Martina” to spare her any embarrassment. As you recall, i was quite nervous about what I had commited to in going to stay a night. Nervous, but excited. On the 4-hour drive I played all my old 70’s cd’s, especially Fleetwood Mac and Bob Seger, singing at the top of my lungs.
When I arrived, i was happy (but not surprised) to find her just as beautiful as she ever was. Martina was alsway “the pretty one” in our circle, especially at our 10-year high-school reunion. She seemed normal. She has a 15 year old daughter who joined us on the porch to catch-up, as she had heard lot’s of tales about her Mom and “Potsie”–my identity for many years. Things were going swimmingly until (more…)

Reunion-Yikes!
Just last winter I decided to become a part of the “real world” and put myself on facebook. I’d been hearing people talk about it and frankly, not having my own facebook page made me feel even more like a fucking fossil. With the big 5-0 looming ever-closer, the need to re-connect with old aquaintences was strong. Visit my post at True Confessions to see how i got hooked-in so easily. After my first try, I had to admit I was powerless. SHIT!
So now, 6 months later, I am actually (more…)
