While we’re on the subject of festivities , HK and I attended the Vancouver Pride parade this weekend.  Talk about festive! Reports are that there were anywhere from 400,000 to half a million people there! We loved it! Everybody was cheering at the floats, throwing beads, dancing in the streets, actually, it was a lot like Mardi Gras!  Even little kids were waving their rainbow flags.

I’ll share some of my poto’s with you below…

This really, really, well, odd foot.  And i am almost embarrassed to admit, (but you’re my peeps, so i know you won’t cast judgement) but i paused, grabbed my camera and snapped a photo.   The way i see it is, i never saw the owner of this foot’s face,  and she was totally unaware of my fascination, and she was, after all, wearing flip-flops, so no harm done.  Besides, it’s really, uh, an artistic foot, don’t you think?

What I like about this is that she is (hopefully) celebrating diversity–which is the meaning behind Pride. My friend Sally’s cousin was born with webbed toes, and went on to become a champion competitive swimmer.  And remember Sissy from Even Cowgirls Get the Blues?   Born with abnormally large thumbs, she made the most of them by becoming a hitchiker! So celebrate YOU, because whoever you are, you are unique!!!!!!!!!
